For any designer, coming up with printed promotional materials is a challenging task. It is important to get the right balance of images, information, and to incorporate the business brands to create a brochure design which is professional and stands out from the crowd. Mentioned below are some of the mistakes which should be avoided once you plan to design a brochure.

Information Overload

It is a common tendency for an organization to give as much information to their readers about their products and services. However pages filled with text are not very inviting to read.. A leaflet should have the ability to grab the reader's attention through the use of bold design and text which is broken into headlines and bullets. An organization must choose the most appropriate information, and categorize them into paragraphs and sections. This will avoid the leaflet to be overloaded with information, thereby making it inviting for the readers.

A brochure fully embedded with text most of the times looks very clumsy. Charts and pictures are a great way to enhance the look of the page and can also convey understandable and easy information which is relevant to the company’s products and services. The images must be carefully selected. Usage of low resolution images should be avoided, as they result in an unprofessional representation of a company. While choosing images it is also important to follow copyright laws.

Power of Colour

Although black and white images are effective, they give an unprofessional look to printed material and are unable to attract the attention of the reader. Using colours is a great way to grab the attention of the readers. However, too many colours can be extremely distracting and can make the reader loose focus. An organization should use two complimentary colours to build the basis of their brochure.

Inferior Material

Printing a leaflet enables a company to produce a physical promotional item which can be used to directly represent their reputation, credibility as well as products and services. Using inferior quality paper sends out a wrong impression of an organization to their potential customers. Good quality material can improve the reader's first impression of the organization.

It is advisable to do away with these blunders while designing the brochure, so that the objectives of the organization can be fulfilled and the optimum results reached.
