Some Strategies to Healthy Collaboration in Brochure Design

Collaboration among freelancers is booming these days. More and more freelancers are collaborating and forming teams of specialized professionals in the fields of web design,  brochure design, graphic design, logo design and content writing. These teams are doing the works that were earlier done by in-house departments of companies. However, there are still a number of freelancers who feel more comfortable to work alone.

This post offers some helpful tips for those freelancers who have to initiate collaboration with other professionals to complete a client’s project.

Research

Much like the way you research about a prospective client, research about a prospective collaborator. Explore the online profiles they have and study any piece of testimonial they have earned from their previous clients. Study their portfolio thoroughly. That will give you a clear idea about what kind of workers they are. Keep in mind that when you would collaborate with them, your reputation will  associate with theirs.

Offer Detailed Information

When you decide to collaborate with another freelancer, offer as much detailed information as possible about the project. This is needed because the other freelancer’s area of specialization may be different from yours for which you do not know what information they may require. Make room for them so that they can put across their questions and clarify their doubts. Remember, the more detailed information you provide, the better they will be able to meet the job requirements.

Sign an Agreement

An agreement or contract is important. Most freelancers look for some kind of paperwork to be sure that the project is genuine. Provide them that sense of security and you will earn their trust. This will help you in the future to do more projects together.

Use Internet Tools

Several online tools are available that help freelancers with their project management. Make use of those tools.

Choose a Team Leader

When there is a team, there has to be a team leader. If you have acquired the project, you can become the team leader. Co-ordinate with all the team members and check the progress of the work from time to time. In case you are not the team leader, make sure whatever job is assigned to you, is being done properly and you are co-coordinating with your team leader regularly.

Respect Others and they will Respect You

Just like you are specialized in a particular area, each of your team members are also specialized in particular areas. Have respect for their knowledge, experience and skill. Treat them the way salaried professionals should be treated. If your client praises the work, let the client know about who deserves credit. Make it a nice experience for your team members. That will also help you in the future.

Communicate Regularly

Just like you communicate with your client frequently, if need be, arrange meetings with your collaborators regularly. Regular and clear communication can make projects really successful. Allot some time for e-mailing, chatting and phone communication with your clients and collaborators.

Make the Payment Quickly

If you are getting a certain amount from your client as the project fee, pay your team members quickly. Do not make them wait for payments. This will keep them happy and you will be able to work with them in the future with ease.

Keep Accounts

Freelancing is like a small business. When you collaborate with freelancers like you, it means that you are bringing some more people on board so keeping accounts is of huge importance here.

Take Feedback

You need feedback not only from your client but also from the professionals you collaborate with. Try and find out what they think of your work, your project management and the overall experience of working with you.

Finally, tell us if you have collaborated with other freelancers and how the experience was.
