Avoid these Resume Mistakes and Fulfill Your Dream as an Aspiring Graphic Designer

If you are planning to work as a graphic designer in a company, preparing a powerful resume is important. Unfortunately, many people assume that since they are applying for the post of graphic designer, creating a resume that violates conventional rules is fine.

However, this is a wrong concept. While you can always use the resume to highlight your creative skills, going overboard with creativity can irritate your potential employers. As an aspiring designer, here are few mistakes that you should avoid.

Opting For Flamboyant Designs

This is the most common mistake. Most aspiring designers automatically assume that incorporating loud designs in their resume will impress the potential employees. Unfortunately, this is  a wrong concept.

If you use loud graphic design in your resume, it may overpower content of the resume. More specifically, employers will have to invest more time for reading the necessary details, such as your education, work experience and contact information, amongst such designs. This in turn, can irritate them and create a negative impression.

As an aspiring designer, you can always use a creative resume to highlight your skills. However, ensure that the designs do not overshadow important aspects of your resume.

Incorporating Fancy Fonts in the Resume

Using unconventional fonts in the resume is fine. However, do not use fonts that affect readability of your resume. To stay on the safe side, choose fonts that are common in the professional world, such as Calibri or Times New Roman.

Also, avoid choosing a small font size because it may place strain on the eyes. Rather, choose a font that allows people to read the content comfortably.

Missing Out Critical Information

In the quest of incorporating creative designs in resume, many designers ignore content aspect of the resume. They avoid writing about their skills and previous work experience, which makes the resume appear incomplete. This in turn, can prevent them from grabbing the job.

If you are willing to get the job, pay equal attention to design and content of the resume. Make sure that you do not miss out any important information.

Undermining the Importance of Correct Grammar and Spelling

Some designers think that since they are applying for position of a designer, paying attention to grammar and spelling is not important. However, the reality is that most employers consider writing skills as an important criterion for evaluating an employee. They believe that a person who makes spelling and grammatical errors is unfit for any job.

This means that to create a positive impression, using correct grammar and spellings is crucial. To stay on the safe side, recheck your resume once or twice, after you finish creating it.

Avoiding Rechecking

The above point highlights the importance of rechecking a resume. However, by rechecking, we do not mean that you need to check only spelling and grammar. Apart from these, pay attention to the design, layout, and readability of the text. Ensure that you did not miss out any critical point.

Devote sufficient time for rechecking, so that you do not have to finish the job hurriedly and submit a poor quality resume.

Avoid these mistakes to create an impressive resume and acquire the job. You can also consider these tips to create resume for a job that requires you to create flyer design.

Some Strategies to Healthy Collaboration in Brochure Design

Collaboration among freelancers is booming these days. More and more freelancers are collaborating and forming teams of specialized professionals in the fields of web design, brochure design, graphic design, logo design and content writing. These teams are doing the works that were earlier done by in-house departments of companies. However, there are still a number of freelancers who feel more comfortable to work alone.

This post offers some helpful tips for those freelancers who have to initiate collaboration with other professionals to complete a client’s project.

Research

Much like the way you research about a prospective client, research about a prospective collaborator. Explore the online profiles they have and study any piece of testimonial they have earned from their previous clients. Study their portfolio thoroughly. That will give you a clear idea about what kind of workers they are. Keep in mind that when you would collaborate with them, your reputation will  associate with theirs.

Offer Detailed Information

When you decide to collaborate with another freelancer, offer as much detailed information as possible about the project. This is needed because the other freelancer’s area of specialization may be different from yours for which you do not know what information they may require. Make room for them so that they can put across their questions and clarify their doubts. Remember, the more detailed information you provide, the better they will be able to meet the job requirements.

Sign an Agreement

An agreement or contract is important. Most freelancers look for some kind of paperwork to be sure that the project is genuine. Provide them that sense of security and you will earn their trust. This will help you in the future to do more projects together.

Use Internet Tools

Several online tools are available that help freelancers with their project management. Make use of those tools.

Choose a Team Leader

When there is a team, there has to be a team leader. If you have acquired the project, you can become the team leader. Co-ordinate with all the team members and check the progress of the work from time to time. In case you are not the team leader, make sure whatever job is assigned to you, is being done properly and you are co-ordinating with your team leader regularly.

Respect Others and they will Respect You

Just like you are specialized in a particular area, each of your team members are also specialized in particular areas. Have respect for their knowledge, experience and skill. Treat them the way salaried professionals should be treated. If your client praises the work, let the client know about who deserves credit. Make it a nice experience for your team members. That will also help you in the future.

Communicate Regularly

Just like you communicate with your client frequently, if need be, arrange meetings with your collaborators regularly. Regular and clear communication can make projects really successful. Allot some time for e-mailing, chatting and phone communication with your clients and collaborators.

Make the Payment Quickly

If you are getting a certain amount from your client as the project fee, pay your team members quickly. Do not make them wait for payments. This will keep them happy and you will be able to work with them in the future with ease.

Keep Accounts

Freelancing is like a small business. When you collaborate with freelancers like you, it means that you are bringing some more people on board so keeping accounts is of huge importance here.

Take Feedback

You need feedback not only from your client but also from the professionals you collaborate with. Try and find out what they think of your work, your project management and the overall experience of working with you.

Finally, tell us if you have collaborated with other freelancers and how the experience was.

Try these Attention-Grabbing Color Combinations in Your Graphic Design

As a graphic designer, you must have a desire to create color combinations that stand out. An attractive medley of colors can do the magic. This post will tell you about some colors that look great when paired up with one another.

Light Grey+Dark Grey+Green

On a light-grey background, dark grey content creates a more subtle professional feel because of the less-powerful contrast. However, adding a little bit of green to this would help you create a professional as well as natural look.

Black+White+Brown+Blue

This combination creates a funny yet serious air. Funny because they have a resemblance to different ice-cream flavors such as vanilla, chocolate and blueberry. Serious because none of them are very bright. You can embrace this color combination when you are creating graphic design for something business-related.

White+Blue+Grey

Remember Twitter’s color scheme? Well, this is a combination that’s cool, professional and sleek at the same time. The touch of Blue adds life and a feel of freshness. This would be a great color combination to choose if you wish to give your design a clean-look with a dash of life.

Blue-green+White

Rather than using just blue, you can include a pinch of green with the blue to add a touch of nature to the color scheme. This would make the combination even more tranquil.

Black+White+Red

Sounds like the ultimate sinful combination! Black is the color that makes this combination attractive. Since black wouldn’t clash with the red nor the white, this scheme would capture the attention of onlookers more than only red+white combinations.

Grey+Yellow-green

This combination would bring a feel of sci-fi in your design. If you are designing for a video game or a comics series, this is a nice combination to use. While grey adds sophistication, yellow-green creates a fantasy-like feeling.

White+Blue

White text, if used over a blue background, evokes an oceanic feel. Blue is not typically used for a background color but it’s better than colors like red which creates a hot feeling. The coolness of blue makes the content better readable, especially when the matter is lengthy.

White+Orange

This is my personal favorite. If you are creating a warm graphic design that would be associated with, say, some festival, or something related to children, this is a good combination to use. The intensity of orange makes a perfect platform for white to stand out.

Pink + White

When talking about a solid color to provide the background for white text, bring in pink. Though pink is often abandoned by men for its ‘womanly’ connotation. Feel free to use pink in your design. It would be a lot more eye-catching than most other designs.

If you are running out of color ideas, try these and your graphic design will surely be a success.

Have you devised a unique color combination? Tell us about it.

Opt For Blue to Lend a Cool Effect to your Brochure Design

As one of the primary colors, blue is also an integral aspect of the chromatic spectrum. It is a cool color that comes in different hues, such as light or deep blue. In this article, we will discuss various features of blue. We will also offer few tips regarding the intelligent usage of blue in brochure design.

Features

Proper theory states that blue is a far color. This means that an object painted in blue would appear larger, as compared to the one painted in orange or yellow.

One major characteristic of blue is that it can be perceived by the human eye easily. This is because of the fact that blue presents wavelengths that vary from 440 to 490 nm. All types of photosensitive cells react to this wavelength range-of course, at varying degrees.

Blue is also commonly known as the ‘cool color. This is probably because of the fact that blue evokes a sense of peace and calmness.

Symbolism

Blue has a strong connection with nature. This is proved by the fact that whenever any one utters the word ‘blue’, images of sky and sea come into our minds. Using blue intelligently in brochure and web design is critical. We will explain how you can utilize blue to create a mesmerizing effect.

Example 1

It is an established fact that using lighter tones can create a sense of free and open environment. This in turn, creates a calming effect. This means that using blue in brochure design can develop a friendly image of your company. However, if you use blue as the only color, chances are high that it will create a boring effect.

To avoid such a situation, consider the sky as your source of inspiration. Most people will agree that the sky looks boring when it assumes a single, solid color. Rather, it appears more interesting, when golden sun rays play with blue hue of the sky. Similarly, you can combine blue with other colors to spice up the design ( for additional information, check the section-combination).

Example 2

Next, let us consider the example of water. Water represents vitality, versatility, and life. The most unique fact about water is that it changes its shape, depending on its state. In small quantities, water appears colorless. However, in large quantities, water assumes a light blue color.

Many corporate companies incorporate blue in their logo designs. The reason is that blue evokes a sense of calm and is strongly associated with positive values, such as trust and stability.

Of course, some people also evaluate blue from a negative point of view. They argue that blue is associated with sadness (famous Monday blues!). Furthermore, the presence of blue on the human body, except the eyes, indicates that the person is suffering from health-related problems.

Combinations

When combined with the right colors, blue can create a mesmerizing effect. For example, try combining blue with dark brown. You would find that the combination creates an energetic image, while providing the creation with a cool feeling. You can also combine blue with metallic colors.

Apart from dark colors, associating blue with light colors, such as mint green or teal can be a great idea. Such a combination will create a fresh and watery image. Of course, you need to ensure that the combination promotes a sense of balance and harmony. Remember that if both colors possess similar intensities, they would clash and hurt eyes of your target audience.

You can also use blue as a complementary color in yellow or orange schemes. Such a strategy will lend a cool effect to the scheme and balance out the brightness.

Traditionally, orange is considered the complementary color of blue. However, combining it with yellow will also have the similar effect. If you still feel confused, getting in touch with graphic design services India can be a great idea.

Digital Painting Takes the Graphic Design Industry by Storm!

With the arrival of computers and the World Wide Web, things became so much easier than before. Technological development fueled the creativity of artists to a great extent. Then came digital painting and revolutionized the art industry, and graphic design was no exception.

What is Digital Painting? Graphic Design

Digital painting is basically art created using computers. In digital painting, an artist can create the same effects he can do on paper, such as charcoal sketching and watercolor effects. It also helps in creating artworks of various genres, such as Impressionism and Realism.

Digital painting can be done with the help of several software such as Adobe Photoshop, ArtRage, Corel Painter, Illustrator, openCanvas, Krita and GIMP that is useful for creating design concepts for video games, movies and TV. It makes designing a lot less time-consuming for a graphic designer.

Plus, there are some other reasons behind all the rage about digital painting. Let’s take a look at them:

  • Costs less – Digital painting eliminates the purchase of color and other materials required for painting on paper. The two things that are required are a tablet device and a stylus.
  • You can add variety to your work – When artists create digital designs, they can save the design separately in each and every step and create various results of a single design. Furthermore, they can choose from a number of painting techniques.
  • Easy to correct errors – Mistakes are not uncommon in painting, but in digital painting, an artist does not have to go back to square 1 when there’s a mistake. All they have to do is ‘undo’ the error. Even, they can check their work history to find out where the mistake took place.
  • Modifying becomes so much easier – Artists can modify colors, gradients, shapes, lines etc. with absolute ease in digital painting.
  • Results appear real – The design output looks totally real. For online video game creators, it helps to keep the target audience interested.
  • Using graphic designs online becomes so easy – When artists create a design on paper, publishing it online for others to see in their own convenient time can be quite time-consuming because artists have to scan the design and then edit it a bit and then publish it online. However, when they create designs using a tablet, putting it up online is a lot easier and quicker.
  • Designs appear a lot more eye-catching – and not only that, digital paintings look a lot more appealing, detailed, clearer and sharper than paper.
  • Digital paintings communicate better – Since they look so real, digital paintings can convey messages more clearly. The chances of misinterpretations are also eliminated with digital paintings.
  • Have a professional look - Digital art, because of its translucency and realism, appears more professional than conventional paintings. And for a beginner in the industry of graphic design India, the touch of professionalism is very important.
  • Versatile – Digital designs are immensely versatile. There is really no limit to what a graphic designer can do. They can print the design in small as well as big sizes, they can use it on greeting cards, on websites, business cards and even adjust the size of the design the way they want.

Have already made a digital drawing? Do you want to share your art with us? Please feel free to do so.

Why Client is Not Always Right in the Graphic Design Industry?

Some people believe in the old adage “the customer is always right”. However, sticking to this adage in the graphic design industry can be tricky. This is because of the fact that in this industry, clients are not right in every situation.

Unfortunately, some designers believe that adhering to client specifications in any situation is necessary. They prefer to stick to the adage, even if the specifications hamper quality of the work. The reason is that they believe that job of a graphic designer is to create designs, without understanding their purposes/usefulness and making clients happy.

graphic design, graphic designer

An Example…

We believe that as a graphic designer, you are responsible for the fate of the designs. Therefore, you should not create designs blindly.

Let us explain our logic by discussing an example. Let us assume that you are a fitness consultant. Your client needs to lose few pounds within 6 months and is currently on a strict diet and exercise regime.

Now, would you permit your client to eat burgers everyday if he expresses such a desire? Of course not! As a fitness specialist, you are aware of the fact that such a strategy can ruin your client’s goal to lose weight and your reputation as well.

We highlighted this example to reinforce the fact that client cannot be always right. In certain situations, you may have to ignore client specifications or requests, for the sake of his and your reputation.

Ignoring Client Specifications is Difficult

Of course, it is! The situation is further complicated by the fact that most clients assume that they possess more knowledge than designers. This means that they will not accept suggestions of designers easily.

However, this does not mean that you will give up offering suggestions to the clients. The trick lies in convincing the client by implementing tricky tips. We discuss these tips in details.

  • First of all, understand the fact that clients are less likely to bully educated and confident designers. They also respect them more. For this reason, acquire valuable information about this industry and update yourself regularly. This will convince the client that you possess expertise about graphic designs.
  • Always opt for a polite approach. People hate listening to a person who behaves rudely. Accept the fact that the client may not possess in-depth knowledge about this field. Be patient and make him understand things politely.
  • Stick to your decisions. Quote tips published in reputed magazines to support your claim. You can even ask industry experts for offering you suggestions, regarding dealing with the client.

Do Not Forget to Educate the Client

Finally, offer useful tips to your client. Provide him with resources that he can use for enhancing his knowledge. This will help you to create a positive impression. Furthermore, it may reduce hassles of designers with whom the client may work in future.

The main point is that even if your client offers you unreasonable specifications, you do not have to accept it blindly. Rather, you can deviate from client specifications and explain the logic behind your deviation. This will also increase respect of the client for you.

If you are a brochure designer, you must require creative ideas consistently for developing interesting designs. Unfortunately, sometimes, you may fail to come up with creative ideas.

This could be because of the fact that you have unknowingly adopted factors that interfere with creative thinking power. Today, we will discuss these factors so that you can understand how to avoid them. And do not worry, we will also guide you.

Blind Acceptance of Rules

Yes, following rules is critical. However, this does not mean that you need to stick to rules in everygdi_image6 situation. Following rules blindly can interfere with the power to think creatively.

Occasionally, you should deviate from rules to acquire a fresh perspective. This fresh perspective, in turn, will allow you to come up with original brochure design.

Sticking to Specialization

Sticking to specialization can prevent you from gaining greater knowledge. This in turn, can impair your logical thinking.

For best results, experiment with other creative fields. For example, you can create graphic design for any web graphic design India. You may enjoy the process and the company may even offer you more projects in future.

Avoiding Fun Activities

Some people believe that a graphic designer should consider work as his utmost priority. Well, associating yourself with good projects is critical. However, you should not obsess about your work to the extent that you forget to have fun.

As a brochure designer, you should be aware of the fact that working for long hours can hamper your health. Furthermore, it can have a negative impact on your desire to think  creatively.

To maintain a refined balance between work and fun, opt for breaks. Leave your office occasionally to refresh your mind. Do not forget to stay connected with your friends and family.

Sticking to Logical Thinking

Many people may find this shocking, but truth is that logical thinking can override your creative thinking. The reason is that when you think logically, you need to consider certain rules of formal logic.

However, in real-life situations, thinking metamorphically is important. This will also allow you to infuse creativity in the designs.

Interpreting Confusion from a Negative Point of View

Confusion forces you to interpret a situation or thing from different points of view. Therefore, if you are confused, remember that it will help you to come up with creative ideas.

Fear of Making Errors

Fear of making errors can prevent you from trying out new things. In the long run, this can affect your ability to think creatively. To avoid such a situation, get rid of the fear. Accept the fact that no one can be perfect in every situation. Rather, try to learn lessons that mistakes teach you.

Unleash your creativity with the help of these tips. If you require any help, calling up any reputed graphic design services India can be a great idea.

Give Your Graphic Design A Visual Weight

When examining any graphic design, you will find that some objects have thicker colors giving the impression of being heavier than objects with lighter colors. Visual weight is one of the most effective and simplest tools that a graphic designer can utilize to develop visual hierarchy, balance, symmetry and harmony. Visual weight, when applied strategically, can be proficiently used to capture the visitor’s attention.

Let us make delve deeper into what visual design really is with Graphic Design India and enumerate its factors:

Visual Weight: It’s concepts

Visual weight is a concept derived from the idea that different components of the design possesses varying weights that make them distinct from one another. One of the obvious factors affecting it is of course, the size of the elements.

Some elements in the design naturally appears heavier when they have a shape bigger than the others. But visual weight can also be achieved exclusively from the coloring. Certain colors appear heavier than others.

For instance, black appears heavier than, say, white or yellow. The same color can be made heavier by making it thicker. For instance, the color green can appear light and heavy depending on the thickness used by the graphic design professional.

Visual weight is directly linked to symmetry. To achieve balance and symmetry in designs,  the objects must be made to appear the same in their weight. And to emphasize certain objects in the design, it is best to remove balance and develop a hierarchy that will shift the viewer’s focus to the intended location.

The primary factors that affect visual weight are:

1. Color
2. Contrast
3. Lightness/darkness
4. Size
5. Density
6. Complexity

A) COLOR

Color plays a significant role in design. A design without color is unthinkable. Sometimes a design may carry plain black and white colors or be wholly grey. This is not lack of color as many might tend to think. It is purposely done to let the design speak for itself through the colors used.

Color possesses numerous properties that determines the visual weight of an object over others like brightness/darkness, hue and saturation. Co lours can make us feel the weight of objects quite instinctively. Some colors also possess visual weight than others. For instance, saturated colors appear heavier and are likely to attract more attention than unsaturated colors. Similarly a color rendered darker will carry more weight than its lighter counterpart.

Hue is the property of color that has diverse visual weight. Even when two colors are saturated fully and given equal weight, they can still appear to possess disparate visual weights.

Besides hue, color has several other properties that adds or deducts the visual weight of objects. For example, blue is heavier to desaturated orange or yellow and is likely to attract better attention. Shapes bigger in size and with more vibrant colors will carry more weight.

Some of the colors that generally possess assorted visual weights are listed below from heaviest to lightest:

a) Yellow (lightest)
b) Orange
c) Green
d) Blue
e) Red (heaviest)

B) CONTRAST

Contrast plays a major role in design and can significantly aid in rendering certain elements more prominent than others. It is obvious that objects with more contrast appear to have more weight and contrasting elements in varying quantity can create visual hierarchy.

C) LIGHTNESS/DARKNESS

Darkness  and lightness are effective tools for balancing the designs. It is but obvious that components with darker colors appear to carry more weight than the lighter ones.

D) SIZE

Size is one of the most important factors affecting visual weight. By nature, bigger objects (for that matter, anything that consume more space) appear heavier to smaller objects even if they are of the same type. Giving a bigger shape to a component that the designer wants to be the focal-point is the easiest and most effective way of capturing attention.

E) PROPORTION AND DENSITY

Another natural way of increasing visual weight is by making the design denser than its counterparts. This can be achieved in a graphic design by reducing unused space (white-space) between objects. But it is to be noted that more white-space around an object can capture more attention than the colored component that you actually intend to make the center of attention. Here comes the need to exercise your artistic sense of proportion and symmetry.

F) COMPLEXITY

Another novel and creative way to make a component seem heavier is to embellish it with complex patterns and shapes. This will ensure that it is visually heavier than those with plainer and simpler shapes. Since elements with complex patterns consume more time to decipher or read it, it is an effective way to capture the attention of the viewer for a longer time-period. Visual complexity in design can arise from the texture of a surface, photographic images, and a series of similar patterns.

Demolishing the Myth of Web Graphic Design

The primacy of web graphic design professional is to design exactly according to the wishes and requirements of the clients. The irony is that your artistic quality as a designer is pushed behind and the customer’s often impassioned and rigid requirements are given a kingly treat. This is drastically changing the very concept of the word “design”.

Design always implies the presence of the designer’s unique aesthetics. But unfortunately, the client’s interest and commands are far too respected at the cost of artistry of an extremely talented designer. The old saying “Customers are always right” seems fanatically attended to many graphic design services companies.

Let us suppose that you are a gym trainer and your trainee tells you against your advice that he/she is going to eat lots of cheeseburgers. Would you still give him/her the permission to eat them though you know clearly that the food is going to harm your client’s fitness?

The same ridiculous affair happens to us as visual art designers. We sacrifice our sense of creative vision and our aesthetics at the cost of our customers’ often dull and drab suggestions. We are swayed by the nagging of our customer: “I think green color will add better elegance.” “This must be aligned this way.” Make this shape smaller” and endless barrage of suggestions and commands.

Many a times, clients, relying on their inexperienced artistic sense, reject the best decisions we make for their design which is not only annoying but discouraging. At times it is a shame to have designed, say a logo or a brochure design that looks so lusterless and dreary just because you have entirely relied on the customer’s directions.

As a designer, you have to pave your way into working successfully with your clients and avoid such a discouraging situation. Basically, there are two modes of dealing with this state of affair. First, learn the art of convincing your clients that you are competent and trustworthy. Second, learn to instruct your clients in a convincing manner.

The Importance of Educate oneself and gaining credibility

This is the most important part that needs to be taken care of by you as a designer. Educate yourself and be clear about your techniques. Unless you learn to justify your decisions and choices incorporated in the design, it is unlikely that your client will trust your credibility.

Your success rests on your size of knowledge and confidence in the process of your decisions. This does not mean that you have to be blatant and disrespectful. There is always a pleasant way to defend your design in the most effective way.  Keep in mind the following when advocating your stances:

- Be very clear about the purpose of your design. Only then you will be able to defend your decisions convincingly to your clients.
- Maintain decorum and composure. Never express yourself rudely. Be respectful.
- Learn to defend your design with your previous successful designs and take pain to conduct your own research so that you know clearly why your design is as such.

The Importance of Educating Clients

Educating client is vital if you want to achieve success in any business undertakings. As a designer, you need to lay emphasis on this aspect more than anything else. Educating you clients on certain choices in your design using the right language is highly important. Just because you are a computer expert does not mean that all your clients will understand the technical terms you used. Use the simplest language possible. A very effective way of educating your clients is by creating a blog where your can post articles defending your design and also introduced them to the world of popular designs and provide links to design resources.

It is high time to alter the myth and say that the “CUSTOMERS ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT”. The graphic design services India has to redefine the seller-buyer relationship. Just because the client is paying the bill, he/she need not be the entire decision maker. Let us not undermine our artistic abilities; rather, let us use all our brilliant skills in providing highly fulfilling and efficacious design to our customers.

Strategies for a Freelance Graphic Designer to Get More Clients

If you are a professional graphic designer, especially a freelancer, have you ever wondered how you can get clients to approach you, instead of you approaching them for work? You can take the help of these following ideas to solve this problem that seems to recur in all freelance graphic design professionals’ lives.

In this era, there are 4 basic ways you can get more business:

1. Referrals from common professional circle (such as co-workers, friends and clients you have worked with earlier).

- Push marketing such as PR, advertisements and cold-emails and calls.
- Pull marketing which is essentially striking a chord into your target clients’ minds. This is mostly done through social networks and blogs, both of which are very powerful platforms.

2. Referrals from common professional circle (such as co-workers, friends and clients you have worked with earlier).

3. Push marketing such as PR, advertisements and cold-emails and calls.

4. Pull marketing which is essentially striking a chord into your target clients’ minds. This is mostly done through social networks and blogs, both of which are very powerful platforms.

Needless to say, pull marketing is the opposite of push marketing. It creates a desire by which your target clients are ‘pulled’ to you the way iron is pulled to magnet. But when it comes to services like graphic design services India, how do you go about pulling clients? The fact is, there aren’t many clients who would take the trouble of looking for a designer themselves because most business owners don’t even know that their site needs a makeover. Neither do they care about getting a new logo.

The bottom-line is, these business owners are plenty in number. Trying to tell them how the clever use of color, font, contrast or images can benefit their business will not always help. You have to find referrals, which means, you need to find people who would refer your name to business owners that they know. Who would these people be? Clients whom you have previously worked with, your colleagues and your friends who know your potential.

Now comes the issue of convincing your new clients about how graphic design can increase the effectiveness of their businesses. To do this, you need to first educate them about brochure design, logo design and of course graphic design. Make presentations, arrange one-to-one meetings with them, create YouTube video for them and share it on their social networks. Just let them know how important it is to update their marketing materials instead of pushing them and that will do the trick.

Remember that you can’t charge for these educational sessions. You have to make these sessions as interesting and interactive as possible for getting new clients. The better they are educated, the more they will care about how your services can help them.

For a freelance graphic designer like you, keeping yourself updated about the latest happenings in your line of work is very important. And to do that, you need to watch videos, read or listen to tutorials on motivation, and read relevant books. That way, you can expand your knowledge base which will help you influence potential clients better.

Make use of free platforms that are so effective as well popular such as Skype, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn where you can interact with business owners of different niches and from around the world.
